Everybody probably played Doom nowadays, being one of the greatest shooters of its kind (being the mindless killing genre). But an original adaptation that probably not that very much people have played is the ASCII version of Doom, being Doom the RogueLike.

Keeping everything good from the original, the killing, the blood (ASCII blood though), the fastpaced feel, music and sounds, it has completely turned genre to the turn-based Rogue Like (think Nethack).
